So in order hit someone on the right cheek (Mat 5:39), you would probably have to back hand them with your right hand (because using your left hand to strike someone was a cultural faux pas).  The action of back handing someone was very degrading to the receiver of the blow, as if they were a lesser class of person (ie slave).  To turn the other cheek is to look the person in the eye and say, strike me again as a peer (a normal right handed punch), and in that sense it makes it harder for them to hurt you.  Wow.

Regarding the cloak, and handing him your undergarments as well, (you’ve probably heard this one before), is that the shame is more so on the person who sees a naked person than the naked person themselves.  So its like, you can take my clothes, even my undies, but you can not take my dignity and soul and the shame is on you for being so material.
